LMS, in collaboration with the Institut français de Chypre, invites you to an Art-Song recital with the renowned Cypriot artists, Theodora Raftis (soprano) and Nicolas Costantinou (piano).
The first part focuses, mainly, on the beautiful world of French chanson from the so-called ‘Golden Age’ (La Belle Époque, 1871–1914), which flourished during the Third French Republic and which saw the creation of various artistic movements such as impressionism, symbolism, modernism, expressionism and the Art Nouveau movement.
Between performances, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy three miniature pianos solos for four hands, performed by the talented young pianists Sara Kakouri and Alexander Khatchiatrian.
To round off the first part of the evening, the two artists will perform, for the first time in Cyprus, Isabelle Aboulker’s virtuosic and passionate Je t’aime.
In the second part, there will be the world premiere of the song cycle Nine Songs, by Cypriot composer, Constantinos Stylianou, based on the poems by Japanese Zen monks and haiku poets.
