After a three week-long series of events in light of the 5th Pride month in Cyprus that works in raising awareness of LGBT+ issues, a colourful parade across the Old Town will close off the month. The parade will start off from Nicosia’s Municipal Gardens, walk along the town and end back at the gardens. Numerous activities for children and adults will take place at the gardens, followed by a music set to dance off the night.
Children can indulge in face-painting, story-telling and playing on the grass of the gardens, whilst adults can enjoy cool beverages, snacks and later on at night dance to the beats of the DJs. Also attending the event will be singer Eleni Foureira who represented Cyprus in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and managed to win second place.
This year’s theme ‘Make the Change’ refers to having a more trans-inclusive society and securing legal gender recognition.
Organized by ACCEPT organization, that works for the acceptance and support of LGBT people and the elimination of all discrimination against the LGBT community in Cyprus, the events happening during the course of this month aim to bring visibility and solidarity to the LGBT community.
Every year the parade and final party bring together people of all communities, ages, genders, sexual orientation and religious affiliation. Here’s the schedule of the day:
