Spring is here and as the weather continues to warm up, many fewstivals will be held in Cyprus, bringing music, fun, films, and dance to the island as summer approaches.

These 15 festivals are sure to be a great way to spend a day out and enjoy all the beauty of the season.

Puppet Theatre Festival

The puppet theatre team KOUKLO has organised a festival that will be running in Limassol from April 1 to 7 in the city’s old vinegar factory.  Puppet theatre groups will take part in the festival from Cyprus and Greece.  The festival is dedicated to children and all those who love puppet theatre.

Cyprus Walking Festival 2019 

It is time to strap on your boots or favourite walking shoes, and get ready to take part in the events for the 2019 Walking Festival in Cyprus, which is hosting a series of trips around the island, set to introduce you to all the natural beauty and sights around Cyprus.

On their trips, you will get a chance to explore the beautiful shorelines and mountain peaks with their pine forests.

For two months (February 27-May 12), participants will have a chance to enjoy some great examples of all the nature trails and beauty of the island.

Hikers will be accompanied by licenced guides and representatives from the Forestry Department, when it is necessary.  To arrive at the starting points of the various hikes, the Tourism Ministry has organised bus transport from various locations across the island, which can be found on the schedule for the events.

Hikers are requested to make a reservation for the various walks, and there is no fee to take part in the hikes, or for the bus trip to the locations.

Fairy Festival

The 4th Fairy Festival in Cyprus will be held again at Cyherbia in Avgorou, on April 6 and 7 2019.

Dress up as your favourite fairy-tale character and experience a day of adventure and enchantment in the natural surroundings of the botanical park.

Bitter Orange Blossom Festival

The village of Episkopi in Limassol will hosting a festival for these blossoms, which are used to make a water added to many desserts in Cyprus.  The festival will feature a music program and other activities that will be fun for both adults and children.  The festival will be held on April 7 in the village’s main square from 16:00-19:00.

Cyprus Film Days 2019

The most popular film festival on the island is coming back to Limassol and Nicosia.  The festival will feature films that have received international acclaim in 2018-2019.  It will be held from April 12 to 20 at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol and at the Zena Pallas Theatre in Nicosia.

Fish Festival

This festival is organised by the Latchi municipality and guests will be treated to free fish and an entertaining music program.  There will also be a children’s play area.  It will be held on April 13.

Street Food Festival

The Spring Street Food Festival will be held on Sunday April 14 at Dimarchias Square in front of the old municipal market in Nicosia’s old town.

There will be food and live music from 12:00 until 19:00, and carts will be serving various cuisines.

At the festival, there will also be a bar serving a variety of drinks.  Various activities have also been organised for children.

Artichoke Festival

A vegetable many people love will have its own festival in the Larnaca village of Kiti.  The festival will be held on May 14 in the town’s main square, and will include food, drinks, music and dance.

Kourion Paths Festival

This festival is dedicated to the dessert ‘anthoglyko’ which is made from scented flowers.  On April 21 in the village of Erimi, guests will be able to try the dessert and see how the flowers are turned into scented water used in many local foods.

Traditional Cypriot Festival

Traditional festivals are common in Cyprus, and it is hard to choose which ones to attend.  One of the many, which is highly-recommended, is the festival that will be hosted at Petrides Farm Park in the village of Marki on April 21. The festival is ideal for people that love to explore culture and traditions in Cyprus.

Rose Festival

Every May for the past thirteen years, the village of Agros has hosted a rose festival, dedicated to the beautifully scented Damascus roses used to make all sorts of products in Cyprus.  The village produces rose water and a rose spoon sweet, while a favourite in Cyprus is also the rose flavoured loukoumi and also ice cream.  The village will be hosting the festival over two weekends May 11-12 and May 18-19.  Guests will be able to see how the roses are collected and made into beautiful products that they can try and buy at the festival.

Street Life Festival

On May 4, the streets of Saripolou and Athinon will come alive in Limassol, to the Street Life Festival, where guests can view graffiti/street art and skaters and BMX bike riders.  There will be jugglers, music, including local DJs that will play a variety of music.  The festival runs from 09:00-19:00.

May Donkey Festival

May is usually the month that many donkeys are born, which is why in the Golden Donkeys Farm in the village of Skarinou organises a celebration.  During the festival, the staff introduce their donkeys to visitors and host a number of fun activities for guests to acquaint themselves further with their animals.

Anaviomata Festival

In the village of Dora, the festival Anaviomata is organised every year.  Guests get the opportunity to enjoy and see how traditional products are made, how Zivania is distilled, and how halloumi is made.  There is live music, and a dance performance.  Guests will be able to bur and sample traditional products at the kiosks set up in the festival area.  The festival will be held on June 2.
