Limassol is the place to be for the Anthestiria Festival/Flower Festival, with a two day event starting on May 19 and hosted by the Yermasoyia municipality.
The word Anthestiria comes from the Greek word anthos, which means ‘flower’. Inspired by the ancient festival that was held in Athens in honour of Dionysus, the god of wine and fertility, the Flower Festival also marks the rebirth of man and nature by celebrating plants and flowers.
On Saturday at 8pm a concert will be held to on Amathountos Avenue near the municipality’s police station. The band Onirama is set to perform. A parade will be held the next day starting at 6pm, followed by a concert by the group Kings at 8pm.
The events will take place at the Potamos Yermasoyia parking place.
