Fresh cherries abound in two festivals held every June in the mountain villages of Kambos tis Tsakistras and Platanistasa, located in the lush green valleys of the Troodos Mountains.
Kambos tis Tsakistras will hold their festival on June 4, while the village of Platanistasa will roll out their fresh crop of cherries on June 10 (dates/times to be confirmed).
The festival in Kambos tis Tsakistras will take place in the village square from noon until 4 pm. Visitors can enjoy various types of freshly picked cherries and also buy desserts and pastries.
Visitors may enjoy a meal prepared in the village for a small cost.
In Platanistasa, celebrations for the 38th Cherry Festival begin at 8:30 am in the village square.
The event is organised by the Achilleas Plantanistasas group; visitors can enjoy freshly picked cherries along with pastries and other desserts.
