The Theatre Organisation of Cyprus (THOC) will be performing an adaptation of the play Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand on January 11 at the organisation’s theatre in Nicosia.
The play follows Cyrano a poet and cadet in the French army, who is in love with his distant cousin Roxane. However, Cyrano hides his love believing he is too unattractive for her due to his large nose, and in turn helps fellow cade Christian de Neuvillette to woo her.
Cyrano woos Roxane through poems and letters written under Christian’s name, and all the while pushing his feelings aside.
THOC’s adaption will be staged in Greek, but there will be English and Turkish surtitles for all to enjoy.
