The Finikoudes promenade in Larnaca promises to be packed full of events during the week of Kataklysmos, traditionally Cyprus’ first summer festival. For the inhabitants of Larnaca Kataklysmos is one of the most important social events and the greatest traditional, religious and folk festival.
According to Greek Orthodox tradition kataklysmos, meaning flood, derives from the Bible’s tale of Noah’s flood. In Cyprus, it is traditionally the start of summer season, and folklore celebrations are held in all coastal cities with this religious and popular festival.
This year a number of concerts and dance performances will make for a fun, cultural experience, for all. Events start on Friday May 29 and are set to be held until May 30. Below you will find a full list of the events set to take place and the times.
