Overview
Nicosia’s neighbourhood of Kaimakli will become an open-air gallery at 2018’s Let’s Go Kaimakli (Pame Kaimakli) Festival.
The festival is co-organised by the neighbours of Kaimakli and the NGO Urban Gorillas and the theme will be ‘Adopt an Artist’.
Homes in the area will become a gallery for a number of local and international artists. Residents therefore ‘adopt’ the artist and co-curate exhibition, installations, and an event in their homes.
Roads will be closed for cars and public spaces will also be transformed through a series of actions, becoming a platform for discussion, play and engagement. Neighbours and guest artists will develop new works and installations through a series of collaborative workshops and residencies.
During the festival, expect to encounter performances, workshops, exhibitions, sound and art installations, public presentations, screenings, food and music.
Workshops are taking place from July 5 to 8.
Doors for the event will be open from July 8 to 9.
