Mosfilo Festival in Mosfiloti

Overview

The village of Mosfiloti in the Larnaca district will be hosting on October 21, a festival celebrating the fruit that gave the town its name mosfilo, the Greek word for azarole or the Mediterranean variety of the hawthorn plant.

Mosfilo, known as hawthorn in English, is the Mediterranean variety of the fruit and it is used to make a sweet and tart jam that is very popular in Cyprus.

The festival will start at 13:00 and will run until 18:00 at the centre next to the village church.

There will also be dance performances, singing, a photo exhibition, and workshops showcasing the production of traditional products, including:

Mosfilo jam

Halloumi cheese and trachana

Traditional bread

Palouze and soutzoukos

Children will enjoy the traditional corner set for them, where they will be able to sculpt and draw.
