“Orienteering” is known as the sport for the thinking runner.
The objective of Orienteering is to navigate accurately around a course consisting of a series of points (controls), which are marked with flags, using specialized maps showing the exact location of each control. Competitors’ aim is to navigate the most efficient route from one control to another – on or off trail – and to find all the controls at the least time possible.
Our next event will be held on Sunday 20th October 2019, at Lefkara Village.
Registration, start and finish will be by the on the north side of the Lefkara Elementary School (towards the north part of the village).
Registration will be available from 1000 hrs and the course will be open from 1015 hrs. Last start will be at 1115 hrs and the course will close at 1230 hrs.
Three courses will be available:
Blue Course – A moderately technical course of approximately 3.2km
Red Course – A less technical course of approximately 2.5km.
Yellow Course – A simple beginner’s course of approximately 1.3km
Runners are to provide their own compass and whistle. Full leg coverage is not required. Sport-ident electronic timing will be used kindly loaned by ORIENTACTION. Own Sport-ident cards may be used. Loan of Sport-ident card is FREE but please note that loss of loaned Sport-ident card will be charged at €40 each.
The event is open to all. An entry fee of €4.00 per person will be charged, payable upon registration. Children are €2.00 and under five years are free.
