Despina Psatha and Vangelis Petriniotis will take you on a journey to the harbour of Piraeus in Athens on October 3, with their performance of traditional rebetika songs
A selection from the original repertoire of rebetika songs written in Piraeus in the period 1932-1950 by composers such as Markos Vamvakaris, Anestis Delias, Yorgos Batis, Stelios Kiromitis and others, performed with much respect for this long-standing musical tradition by two young and talented artists who have devoted two years to research the particular period.
Rebetika are songs that are based on the traditional Greek culture of the time and describe the social situations of the time period.
