The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation is inaugurating the series of events titled “The roof” and will be hosting a performance overlooking the old town entitled “Reclaiming the Roof” on September 27 at 21:00.
Guests will be able to wander through, reclaim and visually and sonically intervene in an abandoned urban space: The forgotten top floor of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, also known as ‘Aerikon’. The terrace boasting the most majestic views of old Nicosia comes to life in an immersive musical theatre performance with a boldly experimental mood and elements of interactivity, promising to be an unforgettable experience.
Composed and directed by Andreas Papapetrou, the performance assembles a group of ten musicians to breathe new life into the space through sound, movement and sculptural interventions, after years of abandonment. As the last summer breeze passes through the windows of the old “Aerikon”, they beckon visitors to join them in exploring a previously disused space, to form meandering paths with them and to become lost inside a maze of transparent melodies and sounds from the past.
The installation will remain in place until Saturday.
