Moscowia Ballet theatre presents the Christmas fairy-tale classical ballet “Snow Maiden – Snegurochka” on December 22 at 14:00 and another showing at 20:00.
Based on a traditional folk-tale, the story is set in the snow covered landscape of the Russian countryside. This seasonal sparkler follows Snow Maiden, the daughter of Frost and Spring, as she dances into the human world. She wants to feel love, but her heart is cold. Spring gives the Snow Maiden a feeling of love, but her heart cannot bear its fire … And the sun’s warmth returns to the people.
The atmosphere of this Russian fairy tale with the music of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov enchants children and parents alike, uniting the great themes of winter and Christmas: love, humanity, devotion, but also the idea of transience, and values the symbolism of giving.
