Explore Lania’s streets and gardens
Wander the streets of Lania – a quaint village outside Limassol – boasting a rich history of wine and zivania production, and beautiful gardens that are open to visitors during the Lania Lanes and Courtyards Festival.
Lania is located approximately 570m above sea level, and 25km from Limassol. The town is now known for the grape production.
Every May the women of the village open their gardens to visitors, and welcome them into their homes for the festival.
Some other interesting sights in the village are the old grape press station, the Commandaria storage museum, and the old olive press. The Church of Panayia Valana is located at the centre of the town.
There is an older church of the same name, located just outside the village, which houses the icon of the Virgin Mary of Valana, which is believed to have been saved by residents at the end of the 16th century. There is a small park and a great view of the village at this church.
While touring the village, visitors will also want to stop by the old shoe maker’s shop, the gallery, library, some of the taverns and cafés, as well as, the shops selling natural beauty products.
The Festival will be held on May 11-12, and for more information guests can call +357 99 920264 or 99 845153.
