Explore this trail for a great day out

If you are looking to get away on the weekend, and explore nature trails, or enjoy a picnic with your friends and family, than head to the Xystarouda area in the Nicosia district, just 9km away from the village of Pedoulas.

This picnic area is located near a nature trail that leads to the Kykkos Monastery in Troodos, or can be a circular route if the hiker chooses to follow the 6.1km trail leading back to the sight.

Kykkos Monastery is one of the island’s most well-known attractions, as it is the burial place of the first president of the island Archbishop Makarios III, and legend says birds led the monks to first build the monastery.

The picnic area fits approximately 250 people, and there are grills set up in the area that can be used to cook food.

The area is a great escape into the forest and ideal for people looking to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and the get views of the valleys and peaks.
