Overview

The route explores the west coast of the island. Starting at the Paphos Archaeological Park, this 15 kilometre ride takes you past the Tombs of the Kings and on the coast of the Akamas peninsula.

On the way there, you can make a small detour towards the Peyia Sea Caves, a coastal area of stunning natural beauty. When you reach Akamas, not too far from its entrance you can find a path leading to the stunning Avakas Gorge. This natural site’s impressive geological features and natural beauty definitely make it a must see.

Continuing your ride on the route, you will pass by Lara beach, the nesting grounds of the Loggerhead turtle. The beach if an ecological environment of utmost importance, avoid riding your bicycle on the beach, and do not disturb the clearly marked nests.

From Lara beach, the route continues along the coast for several kilometres before climbing up into Akamas. Arriving at the highest point of the route, you can enjoy the magnificent view of the blue Mediterranean Sea stretching on both sides of the peninsula. Descending, you will reach the ‘Fontana Amorosa’ area where you can enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the ‘Blue Lagoon’, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.

The route ends a few kilometres down road, near the Aphrodite’s Baths, where, according to legend, the Goddess of Love and Beauty used to bathe.
