The colourful and joyful Paradise cafe/bar in Pomos, Paphos is bringing the 19th edition of their Jazz Festival this August. During one of the busiest weeks of the summer when lots of events are on as most locals are on holiday, jazz beats will echo on the 17th and 18th of August.
Two nights will be filled with live jazz bands with the highlight of the festival being saxophonist Gilad Atzmon, who’s returning to the festival after 12 years.
Trio Misterioso, having previously performed at Paradise Jazz Fest, are opening the festival on the first night at 21:30 playing contemporary music of blues, jazz and funk. Afro-latin band Macumba will follow with their uplifting brazilian and afro-cuban beats.
The second musical evening will kick off with a trio: Pavel Skornyakov on saxophone, Leonid Nesterov on piano and Kyriakos Kesta on acoustic jazz. The final act at 23:00 is well-known Gilad Atzmon who is a respected jazz saxophonist, novelist, political activist and writer. Joining him will be Irenaeos Koulouras – acoustic bass, Andreas Panteli – electric piano and Stelios Xydias.
Both nights will close with a jam session/party by the Cyprus Jazz Musicians as is customary every year. You don’t want to miss it.
