Fun Days Out in Larnaca with the Whole Family!

Larnaca is an ideal destination for a holiday with the family – not just because it’s a stone’s throw away from the Larnaca International Airport but because it combines an array of interests for children and adults alike.

Finikoudes Beach Front

Larnaca is distinct for its Finikoudes beachfront, a sandy strip in the city centre backed by a palm-lined seaside promenade. Restaurants, cafes and shops line the waterfront, providing all the facilities required to spend a couple of hours or even a whole day at the beach. The waters are shallow and therefore allow a safe haven for the younger ones to play in. There are also other splendid beaches in Larnaca, with both light and dark sands. My Cyprus Travel has listed the three most family-friendly beaches in Larnaca here.

Adjacent to the promenade is the old town of Larnaca. In the centre of the old town’s square is the Ayios Lazaros Church, a great site to visit with little ones. Its courtyard and surrounding coffee shops offer ample space for them to run around against the backdrop of the Mediterranean.

An alternative would be to spend a morning or afternoon at Karting Center Go Karts in Dromolaxia, a short drive from the centre of the town. The centre offers a 1.6 kilometre karting track suitable for children, as well as a paintball field. Open seven days a week from 10am to midnight, the centre promises fun, thrilling times for both young and old.

The Camel Park is also a recommended place to go and spend the day. Located in Mazotos, just on the outskirts of Larnaca, the park offers a variety of activities to suit all ages. These include short camelback rides, a play area for children, a pool and a snack bar to relieve hunger and thirst!

For those wishing for a calmer day out, the Larnaca Salt Lake offers a great walk around its periphery. Along the way, one will stumble upon the Hala Sultan Tekke, one of Cyprus’ most important and perhaps more impressive mosques. Young visitors are known to enjoy the dozens of cats that live on its premises as well as its courtyards and breathtaking views over the lake.

We hope you enjoy Larnaca!
