Adding to Troodos’ activities list is the Cyprus Railway Museum, for those who wish to take a break from the region’s outdoor activities and those who want to explore the island’s history. The only Cypriot Railway Museum is housed in the old Evrichou Railroad Station and displays a collection of the only railway system that ever existed in Cyprus.
The Evrichou station is the only Railway Museum in Cyprus, thus offering a unique insight into Cyprus’ only railway system. Authentic documents, blueprints, photographs and objects relating to the Cypriot railroads are on display, along with train station and rolling stock models, and part of the original platform and railway line. Two wagons of the Cypriot railway along with a hand pump track used for the inspection of the line are also exhibited under a metallic shelter in the courtyard.
Although a prominent station at the time, only the main building remains, which was restored by the Cyprus Department of Antiquities. Despite its mountainous location, the museum has an entrance ramp, chair lifts and disabled toilets.
Opening and closing times as well as entrance fees, are subject to alterations without notice. It is best to check before visiting.
