6 places to get comfort food in Nicosia

It has now become a trend among young and old, foreigners and locals, students, single people, and even families, to enjoy Cyprus cuisine during their lunch breaks. Yefsasthai

Here at lunch, you will enjoy well-made culinary food, in a modern setting, in one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of old Nicosia. Dating back to 1975, the small shop next to Faneromeni Church serves homemade dishes and other traditional dishes. Here you can eat legumes and rabbit, stuffed blossoms and koupepia and lamb with green beans, peas, eggplants, okra, and a variety of meats. In short, at “Mathaios” you will enjoy traditional cuisine as if you were invited to their home.

Vasiliki

A very delicious comfort food place, next to the market of Ayios Antonios, with homemade food from Grandma Vasiliki’s recipes. Every day they make sure to get fresh and quality ingredients, such as seasonal products, which are used to make their own well-cooked food, just like mum does. Try seasonal dishes, which will leave you wanting more: from okra and green bean, to eggplant with feta cheese.

Evroula

It has been in the same place for the last 30+ years and has become well-known for its homemade, comforting food. At Evroula’s, you will eat delicious casserole dishes (until 5 pm), hearty keftedes with bulgar wheat, afelia and other traditional recipes. Along with them you can choose different types of grill items (up to 10 in the evening) and enjoy your meal in a very beautiful part of the capital, Stoa Klokkaris.

Dimitris’ Stoa

Since 1985, it has remained a constant point of reference in taste and quality. Stavroulla’s Kitchen

A relatively new store in Latsia, it serves quality cooked dishes daily. Koupepia, makaronia tou fournou, papoutsakia, oven-baked dishes, as well as seasonal dishes such as okra, fresh lentils and much more are all served. Every day the store announces on its Facebook page, its menu for the day.
