Rent a Car

Cars and motorcycles can easily be hired in Cyprus, especially by the British tourists who drive on the left-hand side of the road. The roads in Cyprus are clearly signed with fairly good surfaces, so it is easy for tourists to find their way around the island. The roads are also easily accessible and clearly marked in the villages and the mountains.

The main cities are connected by four-lane motorways; the minor roads that lead to the mountains and the villages are two-way motorways.

Car rental companies have offices in all cities, as well as at the Larnaka and Pafos International Airports.

Rates vary according to the category of the car, period of rental, time of year and extras.

Use of the rental car is for unlimited mileage. The rental car is usually delivered to the customer with a full tank, paid for by the customer. If the car is returned with a full tank, the customer receives a refund, unless stated otherwise in the contract.

Rental cars can be delivered and collected at the island’s two airports by prior arrangement.

Please note: Traffic moves on the LEFT-hand side of the road, NOT on the right.

CAR INSURANCE

Insurance is an extra charge. Drivers under twenty-five years of age and/or drivers who have held a driving license for less than three years at the time of rental must inform the car rental company so that underage insurance coverage is provided. In the event of damages sustained by the rental car, the customer is responsible for a certain amount, depending on the category of car.

Please note: When hiring a car, the insurance is only valid within the area under the control of the Republic of Cyprus.
