Whilst strolling down Ermou street, amongst the remaining few old craftsmen of Nicosia, you’ll find the Centre of Visual Arts & Research (CVAR) by the Costas and Rita Severis Foundation. This non-profit organization has built a platform traversing Cyprus’ cultural heritage through its collection of paintings, artefacts, costumes and collectables of Cyprus and its neighbours.
You can trace Cypriot life and landscape through CVAR’s photographic archive, read unpublished articles and letters from local sources and embark on an enlightening journey on Cyprus’ legacy.
Besides its four-story exhibition area, CVAR is home to a conference hall, a gift shop, a roof terrace, a research center and a café where you can enjoy a beverage and a snack. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch one of their many events and activities, stretching from workshops to film screenings.
The museum’s open all year round (except on public holidays) for a fee of €5,00 for adults, while children are free. Opening and closing times may change from time to time so it’s best to check before visiting.
