As you lose yourself in the streets of Nicosia’s historic old town, you’ll find buried there an Old Powerhouse converted into an impressive arts centre. NiMAC (Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre) houses exhibitions of modern and contemporary art with the participation of renowned Cypriot and international artists, often supported by museums, art centres and European cultural institutions.
Founded in 1994, it is Cyprus’ oldest and largest Contemporary Art Centre which also hosts educational programmes for children and artist residencies. Let your eyes wonder on its striking, industrial architecture and discover the numerous areas of the centre which include a restaurant, a library and a shop.
The museum’s open all year round (except on public holidays) with free entry . Opening and closing times, as well as entrance fees may change from time to time so it’s best to check before visiting.
