An immense collection of Cypriot art is housed in a beautiful and historic colonial-style building in the centre of the capital. The State Gallery of Contemporary Art permanently displays masterpieces, including sculptures and multimedia art, of the 19th and 20th centuries by local artists.
The gallery also includes artist archives with biographies and ergo-graphic elements, photographic archives. Before you head out, scan the Art Library filled with history and theory of art publications, catalogues of important international publications and monographies of central contemporary artists.
The museum’s open all year round (except on public holidays) with free entry. Opening and closing times may change from time to time so it’s best to check before visiting.
