Interested in exploring some cultural history whilst in the old town of Nicosia? Then visit the Archbishop Makarios III Foundation Art Gallery that exhibits Western-European art dating from the Renaissance period to modern times, including Greek and local artists.
Named after the first president of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios, the art center is comprised of four galleries. The first one presents the work of European painters, the second gallery highlights artwork, engravings and maps from the 18th and 19th century, the third includes pieces from Greek artists of the 19th and 20th century and the fourth gallery contains work from 20th century Cypriot artists.
The museum’s open all year round (except on public holidays) with an entrance fee of €4,00 for adults and €2,00 for students. Opening and closing times, as well as entrance fees may change from time to time so it’s best to check before visiting.
