A Day Out in Paphos with the Whole Family!

While Paphos provides an ample selection of beaches for families to leisurely spend their summer days without spending too much energy, there are numerous alternative activities to indulge in without getting your toes wet!

It’s always a good idea to rise early during hot summer days as it’s during the morning hours that the heat is most bearable when seeking to be out and about.

As early risers, head towards the Eleouthkia Park on the outskirts of Anarita Village just by the Paphos International Airport and explore the beauty of nature through the ten beautiful gardens of the park. Each garden has a different inclination and offers extensive insight into a variety of plants. These include a Cactus & Succulent, a Bonsai, a Cyprus, a sub-Tropical, a Conifer, a Forest trees, a Tropical, a Mediterranean, a Vegetable & fruit and Herbs & Aromatic gardens.

Although the park itself provides refreshments and food, one may want to head to the coastal road leading you back to Paphos town where you will find numerous organic strawberry sellers who set up shop on the side of the roads. Known for its strawberries, Paphos is the best place to try the locally grown fruit, while little ones are bound to want more. May is picking season so you’re right on time!

Lunch can be found in many places along the coast but a must is a walk along the Paphos Harbour sea front, not just to digest but also to refresh your pallet with an ice cream provided by the many vendors on location. As you do so, a walk to the Paphos Castle itself, found at the western front of the harbour.

As a last stop for the day, the Paphos Zoo, found past Coral Bay and just Before Saint George below the village of Peyia, is perhaps the ultimate way to spend the remaining afternoon. Aside from its grand premises and wide selection of animals housed in adequate surroundings, the Zoo also offers an exciting bird shows that will surprise both young and old! Please note that there is an entrance fee to the Zoo: €13 for adults and €7 for children.
