A Fun Day Out with the Family in Limassol
Limassol combines all the beauty of the outdoors and the sea in a sprawling metropolis that will provide endless fun for you and your kids.
Families will enjoy Limassol’s modern Marina, where kids have a safe space to play. There is a fountain in the Marina’s centre where kids like to run around and play with the jets of water that shoot up from the ground. The Marina is also a great place to start the day with your kids: the area has a variety of restaurants where you can relax and enjoy your morning coffee and get the children a tasty breakfast.
After breakfast, you will want to head to the old town, located right across from the Marina. There, the kids will be able to learn about the famed Limassol castle, believed to have been the wedding venue for Richard the Lionheart and his bride Verengaria of Navarre.
The area also has a host of shops where families will be able to enjoy an ice cream on one of the quiet side streets or buy souvenirs to bring home to their friends.
For further fun, parents will next want to take their kids to the Molos Multifunctional Park, also located across from Limassol’s old town. This seaside park is equipped with a jungle gym and ample running space, as well as cafes where parents can relax while their kids explore the park.
Parents looking to hit the water with their children will find Limassol has many organised beaches along its touristy downtown. Beaches in the city are sandy and situated in little coves protected from adverse conditions.
Limassol, which takes its name from an ancient Greek word meaning ‘in between’, is only a short distance from one of the island’s best preserved archaeological sites: Kourion. The site is a great place for kids to learn about the ancient kingdoms of the island and also to explore well-preserved monuments against stunning vistas.
If the family wants to spend more time there, they can also head to the beach near the site, where there are lifeguards stationed from April to October, from 09:00 to 17:00.
In the evening, families will want to grab a bite to eat, so we suggest heading back to the centre of town to enjoy the sunset at one of the many restaurants in either the old town or at the Marina.
