Cyprus may not be the winter destination everyone dreams of, but there are a number of fun, adventurous and family-friendly activities that you can do if you are seeking an escape in the mountains during the colder months of the year.
If you are an avid skier or snowboarder, best to head to Troodos from December to March and spend some time enjoying the slopes of the mountaintop.
Skiing can be enjoyed on the slopes of Mount Olympus (1,951 metres above sea level). Troodos provides two ski slopes on Mount Olympus – only 2 km from the Troodos mountain resort, 12 km from the village of Platres – and about an hour’s drive from the seaside town of Limassol and the capital, Nicosia.
If you are looking for more information on the slopes or the lift tickets, or if you need equipment, visit the Ski Cyprus website.
Hiking is also a great winter activity in Cyprus, as the sun shines even in the winter, offering you an enjoyable journey through the cool mountainside in Troodos. So, strap on your boots and head to the mountains for an enjoyable winter day out!
You can also stop at the nearby hotels and restaurants in many of the villages in the mountains and enjoy a great family meal by the fireside.
